Dear Honorable City Attorney Heather Ferbert,

Thank you for your service to our city, we appreciate what you and your team do on our behalf.  

I head up the Ocean Beach Task Force on Homelessness and we are actively seeking solutions to our growing unsheltered issues in Ocean Beach.  

As a result, we have been instructing our merchants, residents, and tourists to report illegal activity, as minor as it may seem, to the police each and every time. I understand that after three such "minor" infractions, they become more serious and the criminal activity will hopefully subside as a result. We have been taking focused effort and the police have diligently been doing their part for the past 90 days.

I was distressed to learn that your office dismissed 17 of these cases here in Ocean Beach in the last week or two. Is this correct?

If so, I would like to officially request a review of those decisions and request a report to the Ocean Beach Community Foundation be made on why that occurred.  We are trying to stop this from being a recurring theme: 
call police,
police take action,
cases dismissed,
nothing changes.
