A Light in the Dark Vigil
Tuesday, December 16th | 7 PM
St. Andrew's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church
In honor of Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, join us as we walk together from St. Andrew’s Church to the beach, carrying small lights to honor neighbors who passed away while experiencing homelessness.
This annual vigil reminds us of the light we share, and the responsibility we carry to care for one another.

Dear Honorable City Attorney Heather Ferbert,
Thank you for your service to our city, we appreciate what you and your team do on our behalf.
I head up the Ocean Beach Task Force on Homelessness and we are actively seeking solutions to our growing unsheltered issues in Ocean Beach.
As a result, we have been instructing our merchants, residents, and tourists to report illegal activity, as minor as it may seem, to the police each and every time. I understand that after three such "minor" infractions, they become more serious and the criminal activity will hopefully subside as a result. We have been taking focused effort and the police have diligently been doing their part for the past 90 days.
I was distressed to learn that your office dismissed 17 of these cases here in Ocean Beach in the last week or two. Is this correct?
If so, I would like to officially request a review of those decisions and request a report to the Ocean Beach Community Foundation be made on why that occured. We are trying to stop this from being a recurring theme:
call police,
police take action,
cases dismissed,
nothing changes.
I welcome the opportunity to meet, or speak with you directly, on this matter as urgently as possible.
Thank you,
Phil Cenedella
